Sand Hill United Methodist Church
About Us
To Glorify God through worship by seeking, serving, nurturing and teaching others to be Disciples of Christ according
to God's Holy Word.
The people of Sand Hill take seriously Christ's command to love others.  This is reflected in the many mission activities of the church on
the local, national, and international levels.  Locally, the church supports programs like Heart and Hands Ministry, an organization that
helps folks in the Williamstown school district.  We also support the mission activities of the greater United Methodist church in West
Virginia, the rest of the country and all around the world.  Each month we focus on a different mission project and offer our support.

RELAY FOR LIFE
Thank you to all who helped in any way with the boat ride for Relay for Life.  We had wonderful weather, good fun, food,
and fellowship.  After all expenses we cleared $450.00 for Relay for Life.  Thanks to all who donated!

Food Ministry    "Jesus said to him, 'Feed my sheep.'"   (John 21:17)

Our Food Ministry is an exciting new outreach into the community.  The focus of this aid is helping families of all shapes and sizes stretch
their food budgets.  For $30 each month participants receive a box of food valued between $75-80.  There is no membership fee or sign up
required.  Order as little or as much as you like.  Pay with check, cash, or your EBT card from WV or Ohio.  This is not a fund raiser.  It is a
food ministry.  Volunteers help make it possible.  Call the church office for more details.

Children's Programs  "Jesus said, 'Let the little children come to me..."   (Matthew  19:14)
We offer age appropriate programming for your children to get introduced to and grow with Jesus Christ.  It is our goal to see that each
child has the chance to have fun while learning about Jesus.  We work hard to keep a high energy level and fresh ideas coming into our
programs.  Kids are our greatest blessings and we want them to know how special and important they are to us and to God's kingdom!

Here is just a hint of some of the awesome things we have for kids:
*Children's Choir                 *Puppets                      *Plays/Cantatas
*Vacation Bible School       *Day Camps               *Tutoring Programs
*Children's Worship            *Sunday School
*What's for Lunch Program
*Week long Elementary, Jr. and Sr. High camping programs at Crossroads Camp
*Kids Connection to Christ Program for Toddlers through 6th grade
*Egg Hunts, Trunk or Treat, Fall Festival, and much more!

Youth Ministries   "Your sons and daughters will proclaim My message..." (Acts 2:17)

L.O.F.T.  as we call it (Living Out Faith Together) is the peer group that offers teens grades 7 -12 a place to hang out, learn about the Bible,
listen to music, eat (what we do best!), go to concerts, and tons more.  But the most important goal of why we are together is this:
To make followers of Jesus
That's it!  Nothing complicated!  We offer all that we can to make this a fun, exciting, faith-challenging place for all teens to be.

HAPPENINGS:

Sundays: 6:00-8:00p.m. Teen Bible Study
Wednesdays:  6:30-8:00p.m.  Youth Group

Reverend Doctor Gary E. Nelson, Pastor  -  "What the Lord asks of you is this- that you act justly, love tenderly, and walk humbly
with your God." (Micah 6:8)

These are the attributes of a faithful community that we hold before us, sharing together in the ministry of Christ here at Sand Hill United
Methodist church.  As the new pastor, I am excited about the many opportunities I have found here at the church for worship, nurturing
disciples, and outreach to the greater community.  The folks here at Sand Hill are a group of Christians that have faced many challenges
and shown their faithfulness all along the journey.  I am delighted and humbled to be called to Christian service with them.  Please contact
me if I can be of help to you or your family.  You can reach me by telephone at the church (304-375-2802) or by e-mail at
revgenelson@yahoo.com.  Come join us for worship, fellowship, and a faith adventure.

MISSION NEWS:

Thank you Church for responding to our Military this past month!  As I write this, the Youth will be helping
put the boxes together for mailing by the end of this week... they also baked the cookies for the boxes.
Thank you youth!!!  We have had to make some adjustments as far as mailing some of the boxes, for
example; one soldier is in Basic Training and will not be able to have his box until later... another soldier is
training in the desert to be deployed in September.  We will mail his box in about a month.  They will not be
forgotten!

Remember to keep all of them in your prayers daily and to write to them often!
